Mastering is the final stage of an audio production. This critical step is often misunderstood; it involves much more than increasing the volume of a recording. It's not magic – it's science, with an artistic touch! A finished mix can have a wide range of needs addressed before it's ready for public consumption. It takes a trained ear to intuit possible issues, as well as the potential for enhancement. Our available tools provide many options, but your creative choices will determine the outcome. Direct communication with our clients, leading to a firm grasp of their goals, is of the utmost importance to us. We have been making records for over a decade now. We've seen just about every mistake a band can make while putting out an album, from recording to manufacturing. Those experiences comprise our skill-set. You've worked hard on your art, so don't skip the framing. There is a lot of competition up on the wall.

Our Process

We describe our process as hybrid because we use both analog equipment and the latest digital software. The majority of processing is always entirely analog. We use world-class analog equipment from manufacturers such as Manley, SSL, Rupert Neve Designs, Kush Audio, and Thermionic Culture as well as mastering grade audio converters from Antelope. We have plenty of tools to bring your mix to the next level, but all the equipment in the world doesn't guarantee results. All that matters is the work we do in the context of the tools available. Radiohouse Mastering is owned and operated by longtime audio engineer Branden Funkhouser, whose German last name translates to ‘Radiohouse’. Branden has worked for over a decade as a recording, mixing, and mastering engineer at Lord Baltimore Recording. He’s worked with many national and local artists, with specific mastering credits from J. Roddy Walston & The BusinessBen Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) &Brett Nelson (Built to Spill), J. In an effort to focus on mastering as a single service and work towards music of the highest possible quality, we've set up Radiohouse as a separate mastering facility in Baltimore, Maryland.
